GRIT playwriting competition

Following a huge response to our competition launched last year, GRIT is now pleased to announce the winners as follows:

Safe by Shaun MCarthy
Aurora by Craig Norman
Clocked by Neil P Flynn
The Breathing Zone by Nicola White

Our congratulations go to the four winners who have all been notified.

Safe will be produced as a rehearsed reading in its entirety later this year (please check back for details)

The other three plays are being performed as extracts in GRIT's forthcoming event Pages, the launch event for the New Writing Collective, in early March. Please see the relevant section of this website for further information.

Our huge thanks to all those who entered the competition. We apologise for the delay in announcing the winners but we were determined to read every entry in its entirety. The standard was of a very high quality and we would urge you all to keep in contact with GRIT and the NWC, as further opportunities to collaborate with us arise.

New Writing Collective

GRIT can now announce the formation of the New Writing Collective. This exciting new organisation is bringing together a variety of new writing companies to work in unison with eachother, in a collaborative and co-operative process. The umbrella of the NWC will cover all genres of new writing including drama, music, comedy, cabaret and musical theatre. Please see the NWC page for further details.

Pages

GRIT's next production Pages, in association with the NWC, will begin on March 2nd at the The Pacific Playhouse (the premises formerly occupied by the Southwark Playhouse). Showcasing the writing of four emerging writers and three theatrical composers, the evening combines drama, comedy and musical theatre in one eclectic show.
